Here is a collection of two sets of Torn Newspaper Photoshop brushes. These are available as free downloads. Royalty and commercial free – use as you wish in personal and commercial projects.
Back in the mid-90s, I released a collection of CDs of loops, audio samples and sound bites from The Virus Factory. This was a sound-bank where I created a new weekly pack (or two) of downloadable assets for musicians, bands and artists. All royalty and commercial free. These have been offline for a while and I thought it would be appropriate to bring them back.

This collection was hand-scanned from a box of paper samples I purchased for another project. I figure, why let these sweet paper samples go to waste. Scan them and make them available for anyone to use in digital projects. So here they are.

How to install a font
Unzip the files you have downloaded, then:
* Windows 7/Vista: Right-click on the font files > “Install”
* Windows XP: Put the font files into C:\Windows\Fonts
* Mac OS X: Double-click the font file > “Install font” button
Alegre Sans is a nice, bold font with crisp letters. They are all capital letters, but the font includes a nice assortment of special characters and punctuation. This font was created by Jayvee D. Enaguas.
This is a hand-drawn font created by Brittney Murphy that caught my attention immediately. This includes a basic set of upper / lower case characters and the basic punctuation. Created by Lukas Bischoff, Dock 11 is a strong, powerful and unique typeface. The characters are limited to upper case, with the lower case reserved for some text elements. the collection also includes numerals, some punctuation and a few select special characters. Highlands is a font with some serious bite. “Highlands is a charming slab-serif that draws inspiration from National Park posters of old. Versatile in its character, it makes for great headlines.” This is a name your price font from Lost Type Co-Op, so please feel free to donate what you can for use of this typeface.
With a nice weight and excellent balance, this font can be used for a wide assortment of professional looking projects. “Linden Hill is a digital version of Frederic Goudy’s Deepdene. The package includes roman and italic.” Created by Barry Schwartz and available at The League of Movable Type.
This is a professional looking typeface created by Esteban Muñoz Sarmiento and contains an excellent selection of letters, punctuation and special characters. This is the complete package.
A typeface from the now, apparently defunct, Casady & Greene design team, this script typeface is becoming one of my personal favorites. With atypical weighting (see the capital S in the text), this typeface has many unique characteristics that set it apart from other script fonts.
Despite the name, this typeface is a very classy, elegant font. Unfortunately, the free download only contains the upper and lower case characters, but may contains a full character set with commercial purchase. Lastly, we have the bold power of Tondu created by Jonathan Hill / The Northern Block. “A versatile display font that combines classic proportions with modern styling.
