Cut & Paste Digital Design Tournament
The annual Cut & Paste competition starts on October 20 in San Francisco and visits 11 cities across the globe searching for the best graphic designers, animators and motion graphics artists. Using a unique time-focused system… contestants only receive a short amount of time and limited resources to complete a project. This is, without a doubt, a serious digital design battle!
Through events and online programs, Cut&Paste works to increase relationships between emerging designers, creative companies and media. Our mission is to help designers be better understood for better opportunity. Born in New York City in November 2005, Cut&Paste’s signature event is the Digital Design Tournament, a live, competitive showcase held throughout the world each year. Cut&Paste additionally powers design-driven contests and events with industry partners worldwide.
While I won’t be able to participate in this round, I would like to make an attempt to qualify in upcoming years. This sounds like a great way to make an instant impact on the alternative design community.

A typeface from the now, apparently defunct, Casady & Greene design team, this script typeface is becoming one of my personal favorites. With atypical weighting (see the capital S in the text), this typeface has many unique characteristics that set it apart from other script fonts.
Despite the name, this typeface is a very classy, elegant font. Unfortunately, the free download only contains the upper and lower case characters, but may contains a full character set with commercial purchase. This was created by Billy Argel and free for personal use only. You can view additional fonts and inquire about commercial use rights at http://www.billyargel.com/.
