Gotta Love SEO

People arrive at the statica.com domain for many reasons. Some come here directly because they know who I am and want to visit the site. Some find statica.com through web links. Others find the site through search engine results. Boy oh boy, do I love those search engine results.

This site receives a decent amount of traffic, not exactly where I would like, but that’s okay. Considering I abandoned it for about 9 months, I am still surprised to see hundreds of people visiting every day. Most, as I have determined, download the free assets (textures, photoshop brushes, etc…).

I recently went through my SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools to see what terms people were using to find this site. I was amazed, so I compiled a list of my ten favorite search engine terms (yes, these all led people here):

  • magilla gorilla for president
  • leg hair
  • child chicken cigarette
  • steampunk dog
  • trained monkey
  • booger porn
  • how to cook a human
  • naked man with bacon
  • floral bra fetish
  • things killing your social life

I must confess, however, that I know why people are using these terms to find the site. About a year ago, I was running another website called HumanOddball.com. It was a repository for all sorts of weird, strange and bizarre images. Then the site got hacked. I couldn’t restore the site properly and I pulled everything from that domain. I have since re-directed traffic going to HumanOddball to this site.

As a result of this revelation, I may need to go through my hard-drives and find those image to re-post. Apparently people ARE looking for some strange stuff. Who am I to deny them?

What Is ComaConspiracy.com?

ComaConspiracy.com graffiti

What is ComaConspiracy.com? If you go to the website, you find a collection of unusual photos and videos with a running commentary. This is a conspiracy site, or so it seems – one that involves patients mysteriously slipping into comas at The Jefferson Institute.

The photos and videos are leaked information showing what is happening inside, and these are very strange things indeed. The group behind the ComaConspiracy.com website is releasing this information using very underground, secretive tactics.

It is also evident that they have taken to the streets to do a little stencil art – and this is what drew my attention and why I am even making note of this site.

Times Squared Hacked!!
This is the most Anonymous-like video in their collection. It shows a few people in a vehicle in downtown New York City. They flip a switch and instantly the videos in Times Square reveal an image of a woman laying flat with wires suspending her.

ComaConspiracy Video Manifesto
This is a very digitized and edited piece of video.

So, what is ComaConspiracy.com? It is nothing more than a slick marketing campaign to promote a Ridley Scott and Tony Scott mini-series called Coma that will air on the A&E network over labor day weekend.

A medical student discovers that something sinister is going on in her hospital after routine procedures send more than a few seemingly healthy patients into comas on the operating table. The 2-night event premieres Labor Day, 9/3 @ 9/8c.

Air Clicker – The Finger Camera

About a week ago, one of my co-workers discovered this tech toy and called me to his workstation. My first reaction was to laugh out loud. My second reaction was to respond ‘that thing is kinda cool.’

The Air Clicker is a fun camera concept designed by Yeon Su Kim. By simply taking your thumb and forefinger (with the two small camera elements attached), just pretend to click. It is that same silly gesture you’ve likely made with friends and family. And… if you curl your finger, you can also take video.

The photo or video is captured with a small camera attached to the thumb unit and transferred to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
