The Abode of Chaos has always intrigued me, ever since I saw the first videos and photos from this remarkable location. Started by Thierry Ehrmann, this is an art haven that exemplifies everything chaotic in the world. Every nook, cranny and corner is covered in paints, wheatpastes, stencils, images and art. This is a contemporary museum unlike anything else in the world.
Some may say this is the complete destruction of a once-beautiful property in a gorgeous part of France. Others say this is art, pure and raw. Whichever way you perceive it, the stark contrast is a shining example of the theme of ‘chaos.’
Perhaps one day I will have the opportunity to visit The Abode of Chaos to see this location with my own eyes. It has been added to my bucket-list…
The Abode of Chaos is a building located in Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d’Or, a small town in the vicinity of Lyon, France. It is a living sum of more than 2,500 artworks, performed by many different artists and Thierry Ehrmann, CEO of Groupe Serveur, the holding of art quotation company Artprice.
The artwork is based around the transformation of Ehrmann’s 17th century home into a replica war zone, at contrast with the peaceful village in which it is located.
