From graphic design to stencil art to video production to photography to Photoshop elements, this site has a little bit of everything. Jonas Stoltz is originally from Chicago and a graduate of Columbia College in cinematography. His work in Chicago consisted of film production, music video production and photography. At the time, he was also a well-respected club DJ working under the alias The Citizen. He moved to Denver, CO in the mid 90s where he began working heavily in photography, theatrical lighting design, improv comedy and graphic design. A series of approximately 80 fonts were designed (some good, some bad) and released to various outlets. To this day, people still visit statica.com to obtain those typefaces. The photography series, Noir, began appearing in several local and national galleries. Images and photography started to find their way into alternative and underground magazines like Outburn and Carpe Noctem. He released a three CD set of audio samples and loops for musicians called The Virus Factory and that collection will be available for free download on this site in the near future. Statica Mediaworks eventually became an outlet for freelance graphic design and visual production for clients. About 10 years later, he moved to Memphis, TN and switched focus to work in the professional medias. He spent several years at WPTY and WLMT as a broadcast graphic designer for the local news and later spent 4 years with Entercom Radio as the webmaster / graphic designer for a cluster of 6 radio stations. While in Memphis, he has been partially responsible for the creation of club events sponsored by MIG Project and Retro*Spective, bringing a unique style of music to the dance-floors of Memphis. Stencil and sticker art has become a new outlet for his creative energies with pieces being shown across the globe, including New York City, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Tokyo and others (although not in Memphis yet, strangely enough). Always moving forward and looking for the next great adventure, this site is representative of the art, creation and work of a single artist with no particular mission in mind. Every day is a new creative endeavor – what happens today may not necessarily be what happens tomorrow. Statica.com is a journey and by visiting this site, you are sharing on the journey.
